The second edition of Nailympia China, hosted by Kimi Chang and her team, took place at the Elephoto building in Shanghai: a multi-functional space that housed the competition arena, display area for entries, brand activations and a runway show for nails.

Nailympia announces Sicily as a new competition location for 2026

Nail competition brand, Nailympia, has continued its dynamic expansion with the announcement of its 14th international location – this time landing in the breathtaking surroundings of Catania, proudly representing Italy on the Nailympia world stage.

Taking place 28–30 November, Nailympia Sicily will be hosted at the elegant Grand Villa Itria, offering competitors a luxurious setting paired with iconic Mediterranean views.

A competition designed to inspire

The event will showcase 17 competitions: 11 in the arena alongside six hand-in categories, ensuring opportunities for every level and style of nail professional. Nailympia global director, Alex Fox, shares: “It’s a very happy day when we get to announce a new location for Nailympia – and even more exciting when it is born in such a stunning destination with Mediterranean views. This will be a three-day event packed full of competitions with something for everyone.

“There will be 12 trophies awarded, including the 5th Euro Cup, which takes its first round of scores from Nailympia London just six weeks prior. What a great way to end the Nailympia 2026 circuit – inside a stunning European hotel event space. See you… and ciao for now.”

Erika Nortier

From competitor to host: Erika Nortier’s vision

At the heart of Nailympia Sicily is its passionate new host, Erika Nortier, whose journey with the competition began in 2019 as a competitor. Reflecting on her new role, Erika cites: “I’m deeply honoured to be appointed as the official organiser of Nailympia Sicily – a milestone that represents not only a personal achievement, but a significant moment for the nail industry in Italy.” Having experienced the competition firsthand, Erika brings a unique perspective, noting: “My journey in this industry began many years ago as a competitor, where I had the privilege of experiencing the intensity, discipline and passion that define the Nailympia arena.”

With a vision firmly rooted in elevating the competitor experience, she adds: “Those years shaped my understanding of what competitors truly need – not only in terms of technical excellence, but also support, fairness, inspiration and recognition.”

Elevating Italy on the global stage

With a clear mission, Erika is focused on delivering an exceptional platform. “Today, I bring my experience forward with a clear vision: to create an exceptional competition platform that elevates artists, celebrates creativity and upholds the highest international standards. This goal is met with Nailympia Sicily,” she claims, “It’s an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary talent within our country, while connecting Italy to a global community of world-class professionals.”

She concludes with a powerful statement of intent: “With the same passion, dedication and commitment that once drove me as a competitor, I now step into this role as organiser with purpose, vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence.”

Zrinka Vuksan Bolancha – Canada/Croatia makes her debut as head judge in Sicliy.

Highly respected international competitor and long-standing judge, Zrinka Vuksan Bolanča, will step into her debut role as head judge for the Sicilian edition. Representing Canada and proudly honouring her Croatian roots, Zrinka brings years of Nailympia experience to this prestigious position. She will be joined by a panel of familiar global judges, soon to be announced.

A spectacular finale to the Nailympia season

As the Nailympia calendar builds towards its European finale, Sicily promises to deliver not only a world-class competition, but an unforgettable cultural and visual experience. From rising stars to seasoned champions, all nail eyes will turn to Catania this November – where creativity, craftsmanship and community all meet under the Mediterranean sun.

Nailympia Anaheim: Sponsor Spotlight – Byootique

Where Organisation & Efficiency Meet Artistry

In today’s fast-moving beauty industry, professionalism extends far beyond technical skill. From first impressions to daily workflow, the tools an artist uses – and how they are presented – play a vital role in shaping success. At the forefront of this movement is Byootique, a brand redefining what it means to work with confidence, efficiency and style.

Byootique specialises in premium organisational solutions designed for beauty professionals. From nail technicians and make-up artists to hairstylists, educators and students, the brand creates specialised cases, storage systems and portable units that help practitioners keep their tools perfectly organised, accessible and protected. The result is a streamlined workflow that supports creativity while projecting a polished, professional image.

Functionality sits at the heart of every Byootique design, but the brand’s philosophy extends well beyond practicality. Each year, new collections are introduced that reflect contemporary colour palettes and design trends, ensuring that artists are able to express their personal style alongside their professional expertise. Byootique believes that organisation should never be dull – it should inspire confidence and pride in one’s craft.

Positioned as a leading innovator in the North American market for nail, make-up, and hairstyling storage solutions, Byootique continues to stand out through its commitment to user-centred design. Rather than relying solely on internal development, the brand actively engages with the beauty community, gathering insight from professional expos, state-certified schools, industry trainers, students and working artists.

This collaborative approach allows Byootique to continually refine case structure, mobility and functionality while remaining closely aligned with evolving aesthetic trends. The result is a product range that balances intelligent engineering with visual appeal – offering tools that are both highly practical and distinctly personal.

Its partnership mindset is reflected in every detail, from durable materials and thoughtful layouts to sleek finishes and adaptable compartments. Each case is designed to support the real-world demands of working professionals while reinforcing their identity and credibility.

Looking to the future, Byootique remains committed to innovation across design, functionality and sustainability. The brand is focused on integrating smart organisational features, eco-conscious materials and personalised aesthetics into upcoming collections. By maintaining close relationships with artists, educators and students, Byootique aims to anticipate emerging needs and set new standards before trends fully emerge.

Ultimately, Byootique strives to define what professional beauty tools should represent: intuitive design, inspiring aesthetics and authentic reflection of the artist behind them. In an industry where presentation, efficiency and individuality are inseparable, Byootique continues to prove that organisation is not just a necessity – it is a powerful form of self-expression.

Behind Byootique’s continued growth is founder Andy Lee, whose leadership is supported by a dedicated product development and branding team. Operating as a subsidiary of Yescom USA, Inc, the brand is guided by a mission rooted in Andy’s long-standing commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and service professionals. This philosophy laid the foundation for Byootique and continues to shape its direction today. “Your toolkit should empower your creativity, not limit it. We design for the artist who sees every nail as a canvas,” explains Andy Lee. “What motivates the team most is the real-world impact of their work,” explains Andy Lee. “ Hearing directly from customers that Byootique’s products help them better serve their own clients remains a powerful source of inspiration. These stories not only affirm the brand’s purpose, but also fuel its ongoing commitment to innovation, quality and improvement. The professionals who place their trust in Byootique remain at the heart of every design decision we make.”

Byootique supports nail artists at every stage of their professional journey – creatively, commercially and operationally. Functionally, its cases and storage systems are engineered to optimise organisation and workflow, allowing artists to focus fully on artistry and client experience. Creatively, contemporary trends and customisable elements are woven into each design, enabling technicians to express individuality while enhancing their professional presence. From a business perspective, the brand’s durable and portable cases help artists build a strong, polished image and adapt seamlessly to diverse working environments, from salons to on-location services.

Its philosophy of collaboration is reflected in Byootique’s sponsorship of Nailympia Anaheim. For the brand, the competition represents the highest levels of creativity, skill and professionalism – qualities that mirror its own values.

The partnership extends beyond traditional sponsorship. It offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with inspiring professionals, celebrate artistic achievement and support a platform that elevates the industry as a whole. By standing alongside Nailympia, Byootique reinforces its commitment to empowering artists, promoting excellence and helping the beauty profession continue to thrive.

Within the competitive landscape of the beauty industry, events such as Nailympia play a crucial role in shaping careers and elevating professional standards. Byootique recognises that competitions are more than showcases of talent – they are essential platforms for growth, recognition and creative evolution. They challenge artists to refine their skills, explore new techniques and push the boundaries of what is possible within nail artistry.

Nailympia, in particular, stands out for its role in raising global benchmarks of excellence. With rigorous judging processes, trend-setting entries and opportunities for professional exchange, the competition fosters an environment where innovation thrives. It not only celebrates outstanding achievement but also helps shape the direction of nail artistry for years to come.

In parallel with this commitment to professional development, Byootique remains deeply attuned to emerging trends and evolving client expectations. The brand maintains close connections with its community through industry expos, educational institutions and direct customer feedback. This ongoing dialogue enables Byootique to integrate practical advancements and contemporary design elements into its collections while ensuring durability, usability and performance remain central to every product.

Looking to the future, the brand places strong emphasis on inspiring and educating emerging talent. This commitment is reflected in a series of focused initiatives designed to support professional development at every stage. “We believe in the professional behind the polish. Our goal is to help you build not just a clientele, but a legacy,” cites a spokesperson for the product design team.

At Byootique, the mission is to empower artistry with tools that reflect skill, style and professionalism. The team will support – not just with products, but as a partner in industry growth. Together, it hopes to elevate the craft, celebrate creativity and build a more inspired future. Its brand director summarises, “When you thrive, the industry rises. We’re here to listen, learn and keep creating what helps you grow.”

Nailympia London is just over 5 weeks away!

On Sunday 15 & Monday 16 October 2023 the Nailympia team will come together, with competitors, judges, partners and sponsors live at Olympia Beauty, ExCel London for the first time in a year! The team can’t wait to welcome everyone to the competition arena, some for the first time.

Competing will stretch and fine tune nail skills. It’s a place to extend and explore creativity. It’s where a nail tech can shed salon life and literally create without boundaries. It’s a place to show the world their artistic potential and ability, and the judges can’t wait to see what will be created this year.

There will be nine fantastic competition categories taking place live in the arena including Gel Polish Manicure, UV Gel Tip & Overlay, L&P Acrylic  Sculpture, Perfect Match, The Joy Of Nails, French Twist, Salon Nails, Stiletto Nails and Fantasy Complete Look.

Registration for these categories closes at 11.59pm BST on Friday 29 September 2023.

Invite this Wolf right up to your salon door

The first Nailympia global champion back in 2017, Sweden’s Madelene Wolf, has jumped into the slipstream of her success and launched a new nail system with education, known as Wolf.

“For a long time, I dreamt of having all the best materials gathered in one place instead of having to look for products I like from different suppliers,” reveals Madelene. “I also wanted to help others work with the best products in as simple a way as possible.”

Working alongside chemists since 2019, the Wolf nail system began its development journey with a vision of producing high quality products with fine pigments. Durability on the nail was another important factor for Madelene throughout the manufacturing process. “When I started my brand, it was not only to offer high-quality products that create beautiful and personalised nails, but also to help other nail therapists become the best in the world at their craft,” enthuses Madelene. “This is why I offer professional nail products and diploma courses in nail design at my Wolf Nail Academy, resulting in world class nails. People don’t really buy the products, they buy the purpose of them and the results they get.”

With an already saturated market, Madelene affirms she was guided by needing, “The best products for sale, salons and students. When I couldn’t find the level of quality on the market I required, I decided to produce my own.”

Training in nails back in 1996, this world class nail stylist from Gothenburg, has been working with nails ever since. “After being hired at various salons, I’ve had my own salon and school since 2008,” cites Madelene. “I train future nail therapists at the Madelene Wolf Nail Academy, however, no matter how much I think I know, I will never be fully trained and, as I love learning new techniques and shapes, I also make sure I regularly take courses myself.”

Reflecting on her journey into nails, Madelene fondly recalls, “I’ve been interested in nails since childhood when I would glue pieces of tape together, then cut them out to put on my nails. I then borrowed my mum’s red nail polish and thought the finished product looked great.”

Getting hooked on the idea of nails as a career was born from Madelene’s regular nail appointment leading her into a beginners’ nail course. “I thought nails looked like so much fun, so I went on a course and found it a great way to channel my creativity. I then decided to get further education.”

Climbing to the top of an industry ladder means taking education seriously, and as such, Madelene made it her mission to train with the best. Citing Najet Hamila Strand, Tom Holcomb and David Fowler, among a long list of industry greats, Madelene highlights, “If I have to pinpoint one industry professional I currently admire, it would be Olena Oezman, for her great passion for perfection. I can’t stop looking at her nails! But I also admire those who dare to follow their dreams and never give up, those who enter competitions and continue to take courses to keep improving.”

Proving that competing in nails can have a profound and positive effect on a nail career, Madelene notes her competition career (2001-2017), has afforded industry recognition, world travel, networking and further training and now the advent of her own nail brand.

“My biggest career highlight was when I became Nailympia Winner of Winners (Div 3) in London 2014, and then Nailympia Global Champion 2017. That is hard to forget! My heart was pounding so hard, and for a second I thought I would pass out before the results were announced. Another highlight is all the nail courses I’ve had the opportunity to arrange around the world, and now I’ve finally followed my dream of starting a nail brand.”

Living by the doctrine of never giving up on her dreams and living in a state of self-belief, Madelene’s eye for perfection and precision, alongside her persistence and determination, have led to the birth of an elegant and stylish product line, which delivers, in her own words, “Durability on the nails, ease of use and smooth application, high colour pigmentation, with brushes carefully developed by my colleague, Sandra Bergstrand, who’s been extremely picky regarding their quality throughout the production process.”

The Wolf nail system currently presents UV/LED hard gel, UV/LED gel polish, L&P acrylic, nail art products, brushes and accessories. Team Wolf is now delving deep into the R&D for an acrygel product to join the Wolf nail pack.

I want to reach the whole world with my products, work with those who are passionate about the same things as me and train even more nail therapists worldwide,” smiles Madelene. And offering her expert advice to aspiring nail professionals, she notes in closing, “You have to believe in yourself and never give up. Follow your dreams and goals!”
