Nailympia London 2019 Results

The 15th Nailympia London was a monumental celebration of nails and nail professionals from all over the globe. The event closed having seen 811 seats taken by 134 techs from 21 countries. A judging panel of 25 was in session throughout the three-day event, bringing expert eyes and skills to evaluate and scrutinise each competition.

Not a light event to host, the admin and organisational team of Alex Fox and Lisa Ebbens spent the year talking to judges in order to update the rules and devise a new competition; The Joy of Nails with Bling! invented by Marian Newman. The team also took the competition to two other locations (Estonia and The USA), with a third to take place in Canada this month, and there was the commission of a new scoring system.

The third Global Cup saw 12 techs in the running during the event in Estonia, which quickly dropped to two top techs as London opened. With just two points between them, Joanna Bandurska (Poland) and Olena Özman (Germany) competed neck and neck during the first two relevant categories (L&P Sculpt & Gel Tip/Overlay), but it was during the Stiletto Nails competition on the morning of the third day that Joanna picked up enough points and took the 2019 Global Cup with a five-point lead. She was presented with the trophy by the first Global Cup winner (now Nailympia judge) - Madelene Wolf.

An exciting nail duel to behold. Nailympia kicks off the 2020 Global Cup with scores taken from Nailympia Canada for tis fourth global trophy.
