Nailympia Competitions, in association with Scratch magazine, has announced the winners of the first edition of Nailympia Online.

The renowned competition organisation moved online for 2021 following the postponement of its in-person competitions globally due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nailympia Online welcomed 12 categories with three divisions, plus the introduction of a fourth and unique division for gold medalists and nail champions. Competitors were judged by a 36-strong panel and the winners were revealed in a Facebook Live presentation hosted by Nailympia competition director & Scratch editor-in-chief, Alex Fox, alongside Scratch’s managing editor, Helena Biggs.

This first edition attracted 252 individual competitors who afforded a grand sum of 642 entries from 30 countries. This breaks down into: Division 1 – 113 people; Division 2 – 86 people: Division 3 – 79 people; Division 4 – 11 people.

“This pandemic has left no one unscathed or untouched. We have all made sacrifices; all been changed by this past year,” notes organiser, Alex Fox. “Therefore, it’s been a great project for me to put my focus and energy into. I’ve truly enjoyed this journey, it’s been a magnificent distraction from the global crisis and a most fulfilling venture, not least as it’s given me so much contact and connection with nail artists the world over, culminating in viewing extraordinary works of art on nails, proving that the nail industry fosters, nurtures, spawns and precipitates some of the greatest art seen in modern times. The nail industry is an artistic force to be reckoned with.”
