Why did you choose to join the Nailympia circuit?: I chose to join Nailympia to test myself at the highest level & to expand the perception of nail art beyond technique.
To me, nail design is not an accessory it is part of the language of fashion & visual storytelling. It carries structure, proportion, texture & emotion. Even a single colour, when intentionally selected, can define the tone of an entire look.
Through competition, I hope to share this perspective with a wider audience & contribute to elevating nail art as a respected artistic discipline.
What has winning at Nailympia done for your career & confidence?: Winning at Nailympia gave me reassurance that the artistic direction I have been pursuing is the right one. It validated my approach of merging fashion aesthetics with conceptual storytelling & proved that this vision belongs on an international stage. More importantly, it strengthened not just my technical confidence, but my belief in my artistic voice.
The experience shifted my mindset from 'Can I compete?' to 'How far can I push my creativity?'
I now see every competition as an opportunity to identify my weaknesses, refine my craft & grow beyond my limits not simply to chase rankings.
While it has opened new collaborations & opportunities, what matters most is the reminder that true growth comes from stepping into discomfort & continuing to create under pressure.

Favourite nail brands: I gravitate towards high-quality, low-toxicity gel systems that prioritise both performance & nail health.
I especially appreciate Japanese brands such as Presto & Nail Labo for their refined textures, clarity & exceptional transparency in sculpting gels. Their acrylic systems also create a beautifully natural, glass-like finish.
From Korea, I admire brands like From The Nail, Jello Jello & DGEL for their innovative glitter formulations & trend-driven colour palettes. Korean glitters & specialty gels are incredibly advanced in terms of depth & reflectivity.
In North America, I value brands such as Aprés Nail, Bio Sculpture, Akzentz, and Ugly Duckling Nails. They offer strong structural systems, reliable performance, and particularly impressive neon and highly pigmented shades.

Career biography: Miz（Yu-Chieh Wang is a Vancouver-based nail artist & educator originally from Taiwan. Growing up in Asia, she was deeply influenced by its refined sense of aesthetics from colour harmony & detail to balance & subtlety.
Her creative journey began in make-up artistry & music, where she developed a strong sensitivity to mood, rhythm & stage presence. These early experiences continue to shape the way she approaches beauty & visual storytelling.
Over time, she found herself drawn to nail design, not just as a technical skill, but as a form of wearable art. Blending her Asian aesthetic foundation with fashion influence & sculptural techniques, she creates concept-driven nail work that feels intentional & expressive.
As a Nailympia medalist & instructor, she is passionate about pushing nail art beyond decoration, positioning it as an integral part of styling & artistic identity.
Personal biography: Outside of her professional work, Miz enjoys cooking & spending quality time with her family.
She finds joy in preparing meals, experimenting with flavours & gathering people around the table. For her, cooking is another form of creativity one that brings warmth, connection & balance to her busy artistic life.
Family time remains her grounding force, reminding her that creativity is not only about expression, but also about care, presence & shared moments.
Why you believe in nail competitions?: I believe in nail competitions because they push you in a way everyday work doesn’t.
When you compete, you can’t hide behind comfort or routine. You have to be precise, intentional & honest about your level. That pressure helps you grow faster & see where you truly stand.
Competitions also raise the standard of the industry. They challenge artists to think deeper, refine their skills & bring stronger ideas to the table.
For me, it’s not just about winning. It’s about becoming better every time I step into that space.
Advice to other competitors: My advice to other competitors is to focus on growth & enjoy the process.
Entering the world of artistic nail competitions is actually incredibly exciting & fun. It pushes your imagination, challenges your limits & opens up possibilities you may not have explored before.
Think of every competition as preparation the planning, practicing & even the mistakes all of it becomes nourishment for your creativity. Nothing is wasted.
Medals are meaningful, but the real reward is how much stronger & clearer you become as an artist. Stay curious, stay honest about your weaknesses & most importantly, stay true to your artistic voice.
